Sheaffer is a reputed pen manufacturer which shows elegance in the production o f ballpoint, fountain and rollerball pens and mechanical pencils. Sheaffer earned much recognition and popularity marketing fountain pens especially their new collection, school line up. They earned much profit by selling Sheaffer fountain pens. Calligraphy sets are added to their collection list. The excellent feature of Sheaffer Company is their white dot trademark. Sheaffer’s fountain pen ink is termed Sheaffer Skrip.

It is evident that there is specialty in Sheaffer’s production with range of classic Sheaffer inlaid nib. Sheaffer has made much improvement in various filler mechanisms for their fountain pens including Touchdown® Filler (launched in 1949), and, in 1952, the Snorkel® with extending filler tube, both of which are designed with bottle ink mechanism without hampering the basic structure of the fountain pen. W. A. Sheaffer laid the foundation stone of the Sheaffer Company. He took brave effort in designing the Sheaffer pen filling equipment in 1907 and got patent in August 1908. In 1912, this year is a red letter day to W. A. Sheaffer because he started the company with the total enforcement of seven employees. This Sheaffer Company was started in the rear side of a Fort Madison, IA jewelry departmental store. On 1st January, 1913, the WAR Sheaffer Pen company started its commercial venture with an initial investment amounting to $35,000.

In 1922, Sheaffer had launched Sheaffer Skrip which was equipped with smooth writing capability without any distortion. Sheaffer showed potentiality and expertise in the production of jade green pens made of Radite material. Before the advent of Radite material most fountain pens were made of black hard rubber. With unique color contrast, Sheaffer was able to capture 25% of the U.S. market. Lastly there are other brands Sheaffer brought to the market such as  the Balance®, the PFM™, the Sheaffer Targa which was branded  to be  the Targa by Sheaffer™, the TRZ™, the Connoisseur®, the Prelude®, the Javelin® and the Nostalgia™.
