There is no denying the fact that fountain pen has earned too much popularity in the world. With time proceeding there is a massive breakthrough in the design and fashion of fountain pens. It is a long journey it has undergone. Its journey started long back during 10th century when the society was reserved and there was the enriched class called elite society. During that monarchic period, the fountain pen was shining in the hands of princes.

At that time there was a great demand for fountain pens. It is very much palpable that it has given impetus and inspiration to myriad laureates and noble persons to write marvelous write ups and articles. It inspired even Shakespeare to create Mac Beth, Merchant of Venice, As You like It., etc. It insisted Galsworthy to write Justice A Tragedy. So its contribution to the literature is vast and inexplicable.  Daniel Schwenter, a German scientist invented the magnificent fountain pen. His invented fountain pen featured double quill. Out of two, one quill was the bladder of the ink. This quill was inserted inside the large quill. Thereafter, it underwent experiments and modifications. In the year of 1870, Duncan Mackinnon of New York and Alonzo T. Cross of Providence, RI created stylographic fountain pens which featured point nib instead of split nib. In January 1890, American William B. Purvis was awarded the patent for the manufacturing of ink feeding fountain pens.

Later in 1907, Waterman invented a new fountain pen with a retractable point that prevented the ink leakage. This fountain pen is considered to be the most popular and upgraded pens in the world. So far as the structure of the pen is concerned, the tip of a fountain pen is a nib which lets ink flow out. Fountain pens having nibs ranging from delicate to broadened width. In 1957, Platinum first brought fountain pens that were fed on ink. During 1960 and 1970, Platinum took initiative to make leather pens called Amazonas.
