There is no denying the fact fountain pen has got too much glamour in the world. Breaking the barriers of time and place, it has passed through experiment and changes in the form and fashion of fountain pens. It is a long way it has undergone. Its journey started long back during 10th century when the society was beset with a number of social disturbances such as civil war and internal bickering.
At the same time there was the influence of rulers whose commanding attitude was to keep the society free from any type of encumbrances. At that time, fountain pen was used by noble persons.. Daniel Schwenter, a German scientist provided people his created magnificent fountain pen. His magnificent fountain pen featured double quill. Out of two, one quill was considered to be bladder of the ink. This quill was again found inside the large quill. Thereafter, it faced a number of experiments and modifications. In the year of 1870, Duncan Mackinnon of New York and Alonzo T. Cross of Providence, RI created stylographic fountain pens which featured point nib instead of split nib. In January 1890, American William B. Purvis was selected to hold the patent for the manufacturing of ink feeding fountain pens.
Later in 1907, Waterman invented a new fountain pen with a retractable point that prevented the ink leakage. This fountain pen is considered to be the most popular and upgraded pens in the world. So far as the structure of the pen is concerned, the tip of a fountain pen is a nib which lets ink flow out. Fountain pens having nibs ranging from delicate to broadened width. In 1957, Platinum first launched fountain pens that were fed on ink. During 1960 and 1970, Platinum also felt the urgency to make leather pens called Amazonas.
